Free split sheet template
A split sheet records who contributed to a creative work and the percentage each person agreed to, signed by everyone involved. Use the blank template below, or send it for confirmation with Collaborro so the sign-off is timestamped and locked.
What a split sheet should contain
- Project title
- What the split covers — a song, an episode, a chapter, a deliverable.
- Date
- When the agreement was made. Sooner is better: memories drift.
- Each contributor
- Full name, and a way you can reach them (outside the document).
- Contribution
- A plain description of what that person did. Free text — not a fixed list of roles.
- Share (%)
- The percentage that person gets. Every share added together must equal exactly 100%.
- Confirmation
- A date and signature (or initials) from each contributor showing they agreed.

Common questions
What is a split sheet?
A short document that records who contributed to a creative work and what percentage of it — and any resulting income — each person has agreed to. It is signed by every contributor so there is a shared record if the question comes up later.
Is a split sheet legally binding?
On its own it is evidence of what was agreed, not a contract. It carries real weight in a dispute, but for significant sums you should also have a lawyer draw up an agreement.
When should we fill it in?
As soon as the work is finished and everyone still agrees on who did what — before any money or credit is at stake. That window closes faster than people expect.
